The "Professor" of New Hope

A promise made was a promise kept."

A Bond Beyond Words

Every mission has a beginning. Ours began on July 31, 2022, the night we said goodbye to my boy, Charlie. Born on April 3, 2013, Charlie wasn't just my "first puppy"—he was my partner, my student, and my greatest teacher. For nine and a half years, he walked beside me, teaching me more about the "Thinking Breeds" than any textbook ever could. When he was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), we faced the slow, cruel progression of the disease together.

The Night Grief Became Action

When Charlie passed, the silence in my home was deafening. But instead of letting that silence swallow me, I spent that entire night—August 1st, 2022—channeling my heartbreak into a promise. By sunrise, the Articles of Incorporation for New Hope Behavior Consultants For The Guardians were submitted. I promised Charlie that no other dog would suffer needlessly if I could help it, and no "Guardian" would have to feel the helplessness of losing their best friend due to a lack of understanding or support.

Why We Teach (and Never "Train")

Charlie is the reason we use No Force, No Fear, and No Pain. He didn't need a heavy hand; he needed a partnership. Today, every dog we help stay in their home—every Great Pyrenees, Akbash, Maremma, and Kuvasz we "teach"—is a tribute to the gentle soul of the dog who started it all. Thank you Levi for being there from the start.

Charlie, you are the North Star of New Hope.
This is for you.

Established August 1, 2022, in Loving Memory of Charlie
